What goes, comes around!

Well, we had our speaking exam today and I got the topic “People don’t exactly care about each other anymore”. When I gave it a thought, I realized it is actually true. It’s almost as if people don’t have the time or the reason to stop and think about others.
In this competitive world, we are all determined by the expectations and success of others. We have so much to do, so many dreams to fulfill, so many expectations to meet up and so many new things to learn that we become self-obsessed. We forget that we have a responsibility to care about others and be considerate. We fail to stop and think about the people and things around us. We become so self-centered that we only see ourselves and our goals and in the course of reaching success we shatter the dreams of so many others. And YET, we somehow expect people to care about us and reflect upon our emotions!
So maybe it’s time for us to change our paradigm on this. It is good to be self-absorbed up to some extent, but if we want our feelings and our rights to be considered in front of others, we need to start treating the others the same way. “What we give is what we get” so we got to start from the man in the mirror and start thinking about others and treat them the right way. And then, we could expect the same treatment from others J

Rights or responsibilities??

Well, today I heard something one of my classmates said and it got me thinking. The student was late to school and the teacher asked him why he was late. And his reply was “I couldn’t get up in time”. The teacher very gently advised him not to repeat it and in a very irritated tone he said “This is a free democratic country and I have the ultimate RIGHT to do whatever I want”
There were two things which caught my attention. The 1st thing was the way he talked to the teacher and the next thing was his attitude. If the youth of the nation who will be the adults of tomorrow feels that since it is a democratic country and they could do “whatever they wish”, our country is surely in for a lot of trouble! Maybe they are also learning from the big picture where the adults are also demonstrating a similar mind-set.
What we see in our society today is totally disagreeable. Right from the top of the hierarchy to the very lowest level, we see people blaming each other. The administrative authorities of the government are blaming the law makers and they say that the problems are in the implementation stage. However, what I feel is that it is futile to find out who is to be blamed. What we need to do today is start taking responsibilities. It doesn’t matter whether the cause of the issues in our society is due to the dictatorship of the last president or whether the current government’s policies are responsible for it. What counts is the solution. Every individual needs to start thinking one step ahead and ask themselves what they could do to contribute to the betterment of the situation as an individual citizen. We all need to be more responsible and respect each other’s rights. If the individuals are responsible for their actions, there would be no rape cases or gang fights at all!
As a young mind growing up in a society filled with crimes and social issues I personally feel really concerned about what kind of future we would have. Today, even the students could only see that they have the right to education so they are just using their right to fill in their time. And unfortunately they fail to realize that they have a huge responsibility to utilize the right in the best possible way.  If not, what is the point of government spending such a huge amount on education??? This is something all the Maldivian students truly need to consider: it doesn’t matter what is happening in the rest of the society. Our business today is to study and serve our nation tomorrow… Even if it is a free country, respecting the teachers and elders is our RESPONSIBILITY.

My Passion

Laws are the backbones of a nation”, I strongly believe in this statement. Without laws and rules there would be no order and peace in the society. The society would be a center for crimes and the whole youth would be affected by it. Consequently, it would affect the nation’s development and eventually destroy its whole identity. Similarly, it is pivotal that there should be some people to implement these laws. Since childhood, my dream has been to serve my nation as a lawyer. This might’ve been primarily because of my strong faith in law and justice. I personally believe that they hold positions of great responsibilities and are obliged to adhere to a strict code of ethics.
My belief is that “A law is valuable, not because it is law but because there is right in it”. I also believe that we should abide by rules and regulations in whatever we do, in order to do something properly and impeccably. If we consider a nation as a whole, it would be virtually paving its way towards destruction without any laws or people to implement it. Especially, in this modern time where people have started to live by “instincts” rather than “Principles” it has become very essential. Everywhere we look at we could see crime rates rising up and jails filling up with unscrupulous youngsters.
As a person who loves changes, it’s my vision to bring a change to this situation. However, in order to turn this vision into reality, a lot of work needs to be done. Initially, the public needs to be more aware of it. Though there is a law or constitution, the public has no knowledge about it. In this situation, do you think it would have any affect on their actions? Secondly, the laws need to be implemented more seriously. Serious in the sense, it needs to be done in an indifferent way regardless of social backgrounds, financial status and family, in the rigid boundaries of justice.  If these two things could be done affectively, I believe that the nation would be able to find solutions to many problems. However, in order to carry out these tasks, a nation would require well-educated, broad-minded, determined and hardworking young people with a great attitude. That’s where I want to make my contribution.  I want to lend a helping hand to the people working for legal reform and work hand in hand with them to bring our nation to a safe shore. I want to do all I can and try to be a valuable asset to the nation by helping its people and doing my role in its legal reform.
This is my vision and my dream. “We can achieve what we aspire through hard work and persistence”, this is what I’ve been working on for the past years. It’s a dream which includes all my passions; Law, rendering my service, serving my nation and bringing a change.

This post is dedicated to my bestfriend..I Just wanted to say that just because a guy broke your heart doesn't mean that your worth nothing. You're just awesome the way you are! :) And I hope you make a better choice next time!!

Dreaming isn’t a problem and hoping for the dreams to come true is also natural as long as we don’t let these dreams have a negative impact on reality. For an instance if someone was expecting something badly and the opposite turns out, obviously the person would be let down. In that case if he or she blames their fate and lose all hopes is it going to get them anywhere? On the other hand, if they think a bit deeper and see the other side of it they might realize that what has happened in fact is better…..
Same theory applies to relationships too….Just because our boyfriends or husbands doesn’t express their love each and every minute verbally like Edward Cullen does, or could not make each and every dream of us true we decide that they are not worth it…..we accuse them of not loving us and assume that we aren’t meant to be together..This is what happens 80% of the times. Just because they turn out “exactly” the way we imagined, we let them go and expect to meet another prince around the corner. After crossing so many corners and going a long way only we stop to think that maybe that guy did love me…..we would realize that maybe we did a mistake by letting things go the way we had….and then only we would come to the conclusion that we had been the one too shallow not to see his love.  Most of the time, by then it’s too late. Life had gives us that golden opportunity for a happily ever after and we had let go of it. No amounts of crying or regretting colud help us then.
So, my advice to all my friends: if you boy friend doesn’t treat you like Edward does, do not run into a concise conclusion and decide he’d not worth your love. Sometimes there could be a million reasons why he might not be the way we expected and aims are at the known. The only thing we need to consider is that God has created a significant other for every human being and one day or the other, he would cross our paths. If they fail to recognize them or value them that’s no reason to blame fate, and if we give ourselves a chance by tolerating the indifferences and try to make it work out, the reward would be the happily ever after we dreamt about..And anyhow, this world already has a Stefan Salvatore and Fin Hudson..Maybe the guy made for us is much better and that’s why they are different!
